Job Description:
Wittenberg University seeks an experienced Human Resources professional to serve as Assistant Director of Human Resources. This position participates in providing a full range of Human Resources (HR) services to the campus community. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  
 
1. Administer the university's health and welfare benefits: Implement and monitor programs, plan and develop employee communcations, prepare and organize informational and educational presentations, coordinate annual open enrollment, answer questions and resolve benefit-related problems, and ensure the regulatory compliance of all plans.  
 
2. Manage the employee recruitment process: monitor and review departmental adherence to recruitment/selection policies and procedures, establish and routinely review best practices in recruitment, maintain job descriptions, organizational charts and position information database, coordinate temporary labor arrangements, maintain up-to-date knowledge of current legal requirements and government regulations affecting the recruitment function and ensure university compliance.  
 
3. Maintain, develop and prepare various salary and compensation databases/reports.  
 
4. Maintain and develop processes to actively manage the university's worker's compensation claims in an effort to contain costs and promote the safety and welfare of university staff.  
 
5. Administer the student insurance program.  
 
6. Assist in planning and organizing staff training.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:  
 
* A bachelor's degree in human resources or related field or equivalent experience.  
* A minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in employee benefits administration.  
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.  
* General knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit laws and regulations.  
* Strong mathematical skills and the ability analyze complex information, and to define and solve problems.  
* Must be detail-oriented, accurate and able to maintain confidentiality of information.  
* Demonstrable technology skills with HRIS, word-processing and spreadsheet software.  
* Compensation and benefits experience applied within a higher education setting preferred.
